Former WWE talent Scott Hall announced last week that he would not be on hand for this weekend’s WrestleMania XXVII festivities in Atlanta, Georgia because the atmosphere would be detrimental to his quest to stay sober. CM Punk took to Twitter to praise Hall for his efforts.
“Is it true that Scott Hall didn’t attend the HOF due to it being a situation that threatened his sobriety?” he wrote last night. “If so this needs to be commended.”
– As noted earlier here on the website, former WWE Women’s Champion Lita appeared at yesterday’s WrestleMania Axxess session on behalf of Project 9-6-1, an Atlanta based radio station. According to a fan who met her, she didn’t appear too happy to be there — unlike the other stars who appeared.
“She was clearly not happy about being there,” a fan who met her wrote. “While she smiled for pictures you could just tell she was ready to get out. When it was my turn I asked her if she missed this and she said ‘not really.”

The man behind the curtain of The Greatest Show on Hardwood stepped out to discuss his team’s first season together, the one that began with an extravagant celebration and ended with bitter disappointment.
Heat president Pat Riley addressed everything from his coaching future, or lack thereof, to the improvements LeBron James needs to make to help his game evolve.
To start from the beginning, though, Riley said he would have done away with the concert-style celebration for the signings of James and Chris Bosh and the re-signing of Dwyane Wade last July.
Riley, who rarely addressed the media throughout the season that ended with a six-game Finals loss to the Dallas Mavericks, said the team already had plans to celebrate with Heat fans after learning that Bosh and James were coming to Miami.
“Can you imagine when LeBron said, ‘I’m coming?’ ” Riley said. “So, did we make mistakes along the way? Yes, probably. It probably put more pressure on them. Would they have liked to take back some of the words over the course of the season? Yes, but we can’t. We don’t have any regrets over it.

David SilvaReal are thought to be unhappy at having to pay a premium for a player of limited commercial appeal, but the club's president, Florentino Perez, knows he will have to succumb to Liverpool's hardball stance to land his first-choice target. On Merseyside, though, thoughts are already turning to adapting to life without their Basque metronome.
Benitez's first act will be to secure the future of Javier Mascherano, despite the Argentina captain being tempted by the prospect of a move to Barcelona.
His manager, though, would not countenance losing both of his central midfielders in a few weeks and he is likely to inform Mascherano that he will be staying on Merseyside. Once the Argentine commits himself to Anfield, negotiations on a new contract are expected to start.
The Spaniard will then begin the more arduous task of replacing Alonso. Armed with the majority of the fee generated by his sale, Benitez is likely to return for David Silva, the Valencia playmaker.
Sylvain Distin, the Portsmouth defender, is another long-term target, though Benitez has ruled out a swap deal for Alonso involving Wesley Sneijder, the Dutch international, whose arrival would have gone some way to softening the blow of losing the former Real Sociedad player. Another central midfielder, though, would remain a priority, with Athletic Bilbao's Javi Martinez perhaps the most likely option.
